The Materials

What It Is Made Of.

You cannot fake gold. You cannot fake a diamond. That is why we chose them. Every Lux Monster is built from materials that hold their value across generations, not trend cycles. What follows is the full list, with nothing hidden and nothing exaggerated. Read it before you buy, and read it again before you pass the piece on to the next collector.

18K gold being worked by hand
01

18K Gold, Not Plated

Every gold element on a Lux Monster is solid 18K. No plating, no filling, no washing. Plated gold wears through in a year or two, leaving a pale ghost of brass underneath. Solid 18K does the opposite. It develops a soft patina with age, deepens in tone where you handle it most, and stays gold all the way through.

We chose 18K for a reason. At 75 percent pure gold, it holds its color and warmth while remaining hard enough to take a polished edge on a bezel, a claw, or a fang. 14K is harder but pales toward yellow-green. 24K is richer but too soft to hold a setting or survive being carried. 18K is the jeweler's working standard for a reason.

Our gold is sourced from recycled and certified refiners in Italy and Switzerland. Every batch arrives with an assay certificate. The karat stamp on your piece is not decoration. It is a legal guarantee, and we back it with our own serial number struck beside it.

You will find 18K on the bezels that frame the eyes, on the clasp hardware of our top tiers, on the claws and the fangs, and on any accent the character design calls for. The weight is immediate in the hand. Pick up a Lux Monster and you feel the gold before you see it. That is the signature, and it is the part no imitator can copy without paying spot price.

The Gems

A short lesson on how gems are graded, so the spec sheet reads clearly. Color describes how close the stone sits to its ideal hue. Clarity measures internal inclusions under ten-power magnification. Cut is the geometry that returns light back through the table of the stone. Carat is the weight. All four decide value, and changing one without the others is how costume jewelry pretends to be fine jewelry.

CaratCry wears a round brilliant diamond between 0.5 and 0.75 carats, set in a six-prong 18K bezel. Every stone is conflict-free, Kimberley Process certified, and cut to Excellent grade. We hold a minimum of VS2 clarity and G color. You will see fire across the room, and you will not see a single inclusion with the naked eye.

RubyRuin carries rubies from Mogok in Burma where the rough permits it, and from Montepuez in Mozambique for consistent supply. We work with VS clarity and a pigeon-blood or vivid red saturation. Heat-only treatment is disclosed. No glass-filled rubies, no composites, no surprises.

Mint Slime features Ceylon-cut blue sapphires from Sri Lanka. The cut is modified cushion, which the island's lapidaries have refined for over a thousand years. You get a cornflower to royal blue saturation with no color zoning and a clarity that reads eye-clean at arm's length. Color, clarity, cut, and carat still decide the stone. We honor all four.

Every gem ships with its own lab report from GIA, SSEF, or Gubelin depending on origin. The report travels with the piece in a sealed pouch inside the presentation box. You are not trusting our word on the stone. You are reading the same paperwork we read when we bought it.

The Plush Body

The body stands 12 centimeters tall and is built from long-pile faux fur milled in Japan. The fiber is high-density modacrylic blended with polyester, selected for its weight, its matte sheen, and the way it holds a sculpted shape without matting. Cheap plush goes flat in a month. This fur keeps its volume for decades.

Each body is hand-assembled in a small atelier. The seam sits along the spine and is closed with a ladder stitch so the join disappears into the pile. Internal weighting gives the piece a soft, considered heft in the hand. The face is brushed and trimmed by the same person who stitched it, so expression stays consistent across the edition.

We chose faux over real for two reasons. The first is ethical. No animal needs to die for a collectible. The second is practical. A well-made faux fur outlasts every natural pelt, does not shed, does not attract insects, and does not require the kind of climate control a museum furrier insists on. You get the feel of couture shearling and none of the guilt.

Color is yarn-dyed at the fiber stage, not surface-printed. That means the hue runs through every strand from root to tip. Sunlight will not fade it in a display case. Gentle handling will not transfer pigment to your hands. If a piece ever needs cleaning, a soft sable brush and a cold-air dryer restore the pile in minutes. We include the brush in the box.

The Hardware

Every piece ships with a lobster clasp and a reinforced jump ring. On our standard tier, the hardware is PVD gold-plated over surgical stainless steel. PVD is the same deposition process used on high-end watch cases, and it holds its color through years of pocket wear without flaking.

On Rare and Super Rare tiers, the clasp and ring are struck from solid 18K to match the bezel work. Attachment points are double-reinforced with a jeweler's soldered D-ring buried inside the body, so the weight of the figurine always pulls on metal, never on fabric. You can carry your monster on a handbag, clip it to a travel bag, or let it sit on a shelf. The hardware is built for all three.

Every clasp is pull-tested to twelve kilograms before it leaves the atelier. The jump ring is closed with a tig-welded joint, not a pressed seam, so it cannot spring open over time. These are the small, invisible choices that separate a luxury object from a novelty. You will never see them. You will only notice that after ten years of use, nothing has loosened and nothing has worn through.

Certificate and Authentication

Your piece arrives with a numbered certificate printed on 300gsm archival cotton paper, signed by hand. The serial number is laser-engraved on the inner face of the main gold bezel, readable under a loupe. The same number appears on the certificate and in our private provenance ledger.

A passive NFC chip is set into the base of the figurine, hidden under the pile. Tap it with any modern phone and you will be taken to the registration page for your exact serial. Transfer of ownership is tracked there, so future collectors can trace the full chain of custody back to the day the piece left the atelier. No forgery survives that.

If you ever sell the piece, the new owner registers under your transfer code and the ledger updates. If you lose the certificate, we will replace it. If the piece is ever reported stolen, the serial locks in the ledger and any attempt to re-register it triggers a flag. Authentication is not a single document. It is a living record that outlasts any one owner.

Why It Matters

Materials decide what a piece becomes in ten, twenty, fifty years. Resin fades. Plating thins. Paint chips. Gold, stones, and honest construction do the opposite. They get better with a decade of handling. When you buy a Lux Monster, you are buying an object your grandchildren can inherit without apology. That is the whole point.

Every choice in this page is a choice we could have cut to lower the price. We did not cut any of them. You are the kind of collector who already knows why.
