Care Guide
Caring for Your Piece
Your Lux Monster is crafted from precious materials that will last generations with proper care. Follow these guidelines to keep your piece in pristine condition.
Gold Care
Gold is durable but not indestructible. The main enemies are harsh chemicals, abrasive surfaces, and prolonged exposure to moisture.
Cleaning: Use the included microfiber cloth to gently polish gold surfaces. For deeper cleaning, use warm water with a tiny amount of mild dish soap. Pat dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners, toothpaste, or baking soda on gold.
Storage: Store in the included dust bag or presentation box when not displayed. Keep away from other metal objects that could scratch the surface.
Gold plated pieces: Handle with extra care. Plating will naturally wear over time with heavy use. Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, and chlorinated water.
Gem Care
Different gems require different care. Here are guidelines for the most common stones in our collections.
Rubies and Sapphires (hardness 9): Very durable. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush. These stones handle daily wear well.
Emeralds (hardness 7.5 to 8): More delicate. Avoid ultrasonic cleaning and sudden temperature changes. Clean gently with a damp soft cloth only.
Diamonds (hardness 10): Extremely durable but can chip on impact. Clean with warm soapy water. Avoid knocking against hard surfaces.
Onyx and Peridot (hardness 6.5 to 7): More susceptible to scratching. Handle carefully. Clean with a soft damp cloth only.
Display and Storage
Display: Keep away from direct sunlight, which can fade certain gems over time. A glass display case provides protection while showcasing the piece. Avoid humid environments.
As a keychain: Your Lux Monster is designed to be carried. The keychain mechanism is reinforced for daily use. However, precious materials will develop a natural patina over time. Some collectors prefer this aged look. Others prefer to keep pieces in display condition.
Long-term storage: Place in the included dust bag inside the presentation box. Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing in sealed plastic bags, which can trap moisture.
